Note: The rate for a 10 dollar remittance from Foochow to Amoy, fully paid 20 cents in Foochow. Certificates '305' and '306', both similarly franked, originally appeared in auction in Zurich between 1990 and 1991, having been in the possession of the descendants of the person to whom they were commissioned in 1898. Certificate number '305' was subsequently auctioned by Sotheby's in Hong Kong of Nov 7 1996.
